Will iPod kill satellite radio?

Considering I have all of these, and am still not completley satisfied with my current situation, XM, Sirius and my external ipod which I listen to through a cable, this was inevitable.  The 2005 VW Beetles already had a connection port that you could sit your ipod in and operate through the stereo.  My own Honda Accord in the 2006 models has an adapter that is mounted in the glove box, and also allows you to operate your ipod through the stereo.  The stereo I priced a year ago, complete with voice activated Nav, DVD touchscreen, and ipod connection…yes that means you can operate your playlist and everything right through your touchscreen, was only 3 grand.  The fact that these are so popular and that car makers are incorporating this, is a a big blow, I’m sure to Satellite.  For me personally, I purchased my Satellite systems for my car so I could listen to the radio.  I have over 50 gigs of music currently on my ipod, but there are times when I want to hear what is new, what is going on in the world, not just my music.  Considering the growth of podcasting and now ipods gaining even more popularity through this market…it might not be a good thing.  If I where them I would spend some more time making their satellite more available through their mobile players and making it as portable as possible, with lesser cost than what is currently availble.  It’s all about mobility and control now for the user of the player, meaning the consumer.

Sirius vs. XM (Got Both)

I had too :P

I got the greatest gift from my husband for Christmas. Sirius Sattelite Radio. I lost my mind. I already posted about this.

Now I have both Sirius and XM, here is why.

Then it became a problem. Certain things drove me nuts and I didn’t feel like paying for something that annoyed me. If that where the case, I could have stayed with local radio. XM has a lot more stations, but they really lack in the rock department, which Sirius does not. One of my main genres. Sirius pop stations, while being on top of the new music, they didn’t have any stations that offered a good mix that was current. They have The Pulse which plays a lot of artist I am not to fond of, John Mayer, Sarah M, etc. At work that stuff will knock me out. XM KISS has a non repetative mix that has the hits, rock and doesn’t put you to sleep. XM has Ellen and Good Morning America coming soon, Sirius has Howard Stern and the cosmo station coming soon. Sirius has NFL which we utilized greatly with today’s games, XM has Nascar and others. I’m not into the sports so much but it keeps hubby happy if we are traveling during game times, which is all the time lately. Sirius has ‘Standard Time’ a station with artist like Frank S, Perry Como, Nat King Cole, XM has decades and Franks Place. I personally LOVE Standard Time on Sirius. XM also has the music of Starbucks station, and a lot of other stuff. For me, I will be using both just as equally I think. None of this would probably even be a issue if I wasn’t in my car so much, but I travel and am in the car two hours of the day, besides my cell phone, it’s all about the entertainment now :)

Thank God I got a raise this year lol.

and I got it, yup yup yup, and I LOVE IT!! It’s really cool too because all of the djs on the station are welcoming the new subscribers who got their Sirius for Christmas and I am thinking…”how do they know?” omg they are talking to me…. ME ME just to me :)

Total Geek Gift, and purchased by my hubby who doesn’t know anything about them, and has made that clear, which made it even more of a suprise :)
